Michigan pork production is a testament to the heritage of family farms. Of the nearly 2,000 pig farms in the state, most are owned by a single family carrying on a tradition generations in the making. Whether these are small farms or those that raise thousands of pigs annually, they collectively raise more than 1.8 million pigs per year and contribute $500 million to the state’s annual economy. This makes Michigan the 13th largest pork producing state in the US.
